VIF Program

Host an International Special Education Teacher

Though all VIF teachers come to the United States with a passion and enthusiasm for their teaching specialties, the program’s special education teachers are unmatched in their quality and dedication.

Nearly all VIF teachers of special education have their master’s degrees in the field, and many have backgrounds in auxiliary subjects such as psychology and counseling. Many VIF special education teachers come from one of our partner universities, St. Joseph’s College, a fully accredited university in the Philippines with a comprehensive teacher-training program in special education.

The majority of VIF candidates in special education graduate from teacher-training programs that are modeled after U.S. curriculum and standards.

All VIF teachers are deemed Highly Qualified under the federal No Child Left Behind Act. Contact VIF to view all available special education teachers.

Meet Pauline Howard

Country: Australia
Taught at Berkeley County School District, South Carolina

During her tenure at Macedonia Middle School in Bonneau, South Carolina, Ms. Howard taught a special education class of 12. To teach her students about the world outside their classroom, Ms. Howard shared Australian songs, translated phrases and solved math problems with Australian money. They also learned about Australian animals and discussed the death of “The Crocodile Hunter,” Steve Irwin.

"Pauline Howard has made an invaluable contribution to Macedonia Middle School," said Principal Janie L. Langley. "She brings with her a love of children, teaching and Australia. All of these assets meld into a truly unique learning environment that her students are fortunate to experience every day. She is an exemplary teacher who gives all she has to her profession."
