VIF Program

Give Your Students a Global Perspective

Inviting an international educator to teach in your school is an effective way to ensure that your faculty represents and accommodates the growing diversity in your school community.

VIF teachers work in a variety of subjects, from core academics to electives such as P.E., language arts, social studies, home economics and vocational courses.

All VIF teachers must satisfy the following requirements:

  • formal teaching qualifications
  • a current and valid passport for ID verification
  • a visa/work permit that allows the teacher to work in the U.S. without restrictions
  • teaching references
  • all relevant criminal checks, including an up-to-date disclosure form

All VIF teachers are deemed Highly Qualified under the federal No Child Left Behind Act. Contact VIF to view all available teachers.

Meet Jana Bertova, Ph.D.

Country: Slovakia
Teaches in Charleston County School District, South Carolina

Using music as a window, Ms. Bertova shares glimpses of the cities and countrysides of Slovakia through traditional instruments such as the fujara and cymballum, and Slovak holidays such as Fasiangy.

"Dr. Bertova has provided meaningful cultural experiences to our children and parents," says Principal Lerah Lee. "Students at St. James-Santee Elementary now understand that our world consists of various cultures and traditions that contribute to our global society. I appreciate the cultural seeds she has sown to ensure our boys and girls are exposed to the many traditions across our globe."
