VIF Program Employee Benefits Summary

VIF offers its full-time employees and their family members a comprehensive set of benefits to support their health and well-being. These benefits include:

Paid Time Off

Paid Time Off (PTO) is accrued on a monthly basis beginning from the initial date of employment. Days accrued may be used for vacations, personal days and sickness (family or personal). All full-time employees will receive 23 to 25 days of PTO, depending on years of service.

VIF observes the following paid holidays

  • Thanksgiving Day Break (day after Thanksgiving)

Health Insurance

VIF provides all full-time employees with health insurance. The cost to employee for coverage will vary depending on whether or not the coverage is for the individual employee or his or her family. If the insurance covers the employee's family, the cost would be based on the number and type (spouse vs. children) of eligible dependents. Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina provides VIF health insurance.

Dental Insurance

VIF offers all employees dental insurance. Employees may also include spouses and/or children at additional costs per month. Dental insurance coverage is an optional benefit.

Life Insurance

All full-time employees are covered under a group life insurance policy. The policy provides a benefit payment in the amount of $50,000 to your beneficiary. Standard Insurance Company provides life insurance.

Disability Insurance

All regular full-time employees are eligible to participate in our group disability insurance program. Disability insurance becomes effective if you are injured or sick and unable to work for a period greater than 90 days. The insurance will provide 60 percent of your basic monthly earnings, not to exceed a maximum monthly benefit of $5000. The benefit payable will never be less than $100 or 10 percent of the gross monthly benefit, whichever is greater. VIF pays the premiums associated with such coverage.

Retirement and Savings Plan

VIF's 401(k) plan allows employees to save through payroll deduction on a pre-tax basis through the investment company Deutsche Banc Alex. Brown Inc. Employees are eligible to participate after six months of employment and can make changes to their account twice a year, July 1 and January 1.

Company Perks

In the past, VIF has offered seasonal perks to employees. Such offerings have included car washes, staff lunches, field day, bowling and game nights at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
