Admissions Manager
Summary
The primary role of the Admissions Manager involves the development and maintenance of guidelines and procedures to appropriately recommend international teachers to teach in the US. This includes managing the screening stages from application review to recommendation for placement to ensure that applicants meet VIF internal requirements as well as J visa and certification requirements.
Essential Functions
- Manage CAS team to systematically develop and document and share international education/credential evaluation expertise.
- Develops and maintains VIF certification and licensure guidelines to be in compliance with states' requirements for certification and licensure; manages certification and licensure processes for candidates and active educators.
- Maintains regular communication with the state Department of Education licensure/certification representatives to ensure accuracy in VIF licensure and certification process.
- Works with team to coordinate testing requirements of VIF teachers necessary to remain Highly Qualified; completing credential evaluation, certification and licensure for VIF candidates.
- Participates in relevant professional organizations and shares expertise and results of research with professionals via conference presentations, workshops, publications, or training seminars.
- Communication - information exchange and collaboration- strong interdepartmental communication is critical for effective processing and alignment of operational goals with department goals.
- Teacher Support - Strong collaboration with Teacher Support Advisor Manager to ensure communications to applicants/candidates/educators reflect admissions requirements and processes
- Collaborate on appropriate implementation of steps between the admissions and advisor teams. Apply and communicate adjustments as needed.
- Placement - Serve as direct contact for Regional Directors/Placement regarding certification and licensing issues for VIF candidates and educators; reviews/distributes review of VIF educators who need to be transferred, as requested by the Placement department to ensure they remain in-field.
- Collaborates with Placement Manager to prioritize review of candidates based on operational goals and district needs; coordinates effective communication between CAS team and Regional Directors regarding changes and updates needed for educator certification/licensure.
- IT - Maintains database processes and works with IT department in designing database changes in accordance with Admissions needs. Serve as Admissions CCB representative. Serve as subject matter expert on VIFIS process flow from an Admissions standpoint.
- Manages Administrative Assistants - overall responsibility for prompt and accurate applicant document and data collection; ensure standards of documents verification and intake are met; trains and updates AA to meet changes in processes as needed; ensures clear communication so that teachers' documents are processed in a timely manner. Delegate additional tasks and projects as needed.
- Develops and implements effective Admissions policies and procedures to ensure compliance with J-visa standards, states' certification standards and VIF Admissions standards.
- Responsible for ensuring real time data is accurate in VIF database.
- Manages Admissions recruitment year calendar to ensure updates are made for smooth transition into new recruitment year---includes: end-of-placement season outcome changes and rollover/reactivation processes for the next recruitment season, VIFIS updates for recruitment year changes and any program scope changes

- Ability to interpret national and state education licensure policies as applied to international transcripts and other documents
- Strong knowledge of practices, policies and organizational information of US State Departments of Education
Educational and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required, with experience in certification or licensing, preferably in a local education agency and/or human resource management
- 2-5 years experience within a licensing agency with direct responsibilities for certification, licensure and process development
- Experience managing teams preferred
