How do I access Part 2 of the online application?
After successfully submitting Part 1 of your application, a VIF representative will send you a link to Part 2 (essay portion) of your application.
The link you sent me to Part 2 of the application doesn't work.
The link will work for ONLY two weeks. If it has been less than 2 weeks, try to copy and paste the link into a Web browser. Sometimes, the link wraps onto two lines, creating an extra space. You will need to delete that space in order for the link to work. When the link works properly, you do not need a key code to access your application.
Why won't my key code work anymore?
Key codes are used to edit applications not yet submitted. If you have submitted your complete application, you no longer have a key code. Also, if you have not accessed your application within the last 8 weeks, then your application has expired and you must start a new application.
How can I fix an error on my application after I submit it?
If you think the error could affect the acceptance of your application or if your email address has an error in it, please tell us that in the message box below.
My application will not open because I have pop-up blocker.
Your computer may consider the VIF application window a "pop-up." In order to get the application to open, either turn off your pop-up blocker or hold down the "Ctrl" key (bottom left) while clicking the "apply" link on the site.
I already submitted my online application, so why do I keep receiving emails asking me to complete my application?
There are two reasons that this may be happening. You may have clicked the "Save" button rather than "Submit Application", so your application has not been submitted. Return to your application using the key code from the email, and click the "Submit Application" button. Once your application is successfully submitted, VIF will send a confirmation email to the email address you provided. The second possibility is that you started two online applications. If you did, disregard emails asking you to complete the application.
When will VIF contact my references? I don't want my current supervisor to know yet that I'm applying for another job.
VIF will not contact any references from whom we have not received completed VIF Reference forms. When you are ready to alert your supervisor that you are applying to teach in the USA, you ask your supervisor to submit the VIF Reference form.
Can I get my documents back?
No. VIF is unable to return documents to applicants. Make copies for yourself before sending in your documents.
I submitted my application, but have not heard from you. What should I do? Did you receive my application?
When you have have successfully submitted your application, you will receive an email notifying you of the next steps in the process. It may take up to one week for VIF to review your application. If you instead receive an email with a six-digit key code, you have not submitted your application correctly. Use the key code to access your application, then click the "submit application" button. If your application is incomplete, a screen will appear listing the information you have not included. Please add this information, and then click the "submit application" button again.
